I love coloring this adorable set. My favorite part is that she's not just for Christmas! Remember she is available starting August 3rd. Need a catalog? Email to get one! Or go here to view online after 8/3. I used two different color schemes to show that she's perfect for all occasions. Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather and Melon Mambo pair up nicely for a bright and fun combo. For my Christmas version I used Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Mango Melody and Soft Succulent.

This month's kit did not disappoint. Such a great value too--it makes 12 full size cards. I had fun making a few alternative designs (and plan to do more!) Even the envelopes were cute. The original design of each card is a tri-fold so there is both a front piece and an inside piece to use when creating alternatives. I cut one of each apart to start creating. Each of these designs is a very simple idea. This camper might be my favorite of all the designs. It's so cute. I cut it down to 4 x 5.25 and I popped it up using dimensionals. I added a sentiment directly on the card stock base. A twine bow and a few sequins completes the card. The tiny firefly stamps are too cute. Pay attention to the white circle areas on some of the cards. They are the perfect place to stamp the fireflies to have them look lit up. On this card I cut one of the panels nearly in half and stamped the small "needles" on the other side of the card. I stamped the full tree stamp in Garden Green on the Garden Green scalloped circle. I love that it ended up looking like a shadow! A fun surprise.
Interested in learning more about Paper Pumpkin? Click here. When I first got the Notes of Cheer kit I did not plan to create any alternatives. The kit really is amazing all on its own! However, while working on the kit with a few customers I couldn't resist giving them some other ideas. My first go to with a kit is always to cut down the bases. With the pretty butterfly cutouts I also decided to cut one apart. You'll see what I did with the small butterfly below! Cutting a butterfly die cut in half also gave me a chance to do something a little different and only use half at the edge of the card. This card was when things really got fun! Using it as a stencil allowed me to create my own Designer Series Paper. The blending brushes are the perfect tool for this technique. You can easily add color by gently blending over your stencil. As I said, the kit is wonderful even without creating alternatives. It's a very easy to put together collection of cards. Be sure to check out all the kits available!
Sometimes simple is best. I loved how this very simple card turned out. Don't be afraid to keep things simple. I love embellishments and layers as much as the next card make but sometimes it can be too much.
I paired the Sunny Sentiments and Sharing Sunshine stamp sets to create a card I hope will make someone smile. Both of these stamp sets are going to get a lot of use!
When creating my sun I stamped off the inner circle before stamping on my card. I then added the layers of sunburst. I chose Crushed Curry for this card.

Sometimes when you are creating a card what is leftover can be just as important and the original idea!
I was creating this fun card using the new Basic Border Dies (which I had originally overlooked when the catalog first launched) and when I had gathered my scraps from cutting the arrow pieces I realized that the leftovers made me think of a starburst. The ribbon on this card is a sneak peek at a new ribbon coming in the Aug-Dec Mini Catalog.
I layered the scraps on a piece of Basic Black card stock to create this sunburst pattern. I trimmed the edges that hung over the sides.
It pairs so well with the saying from Sunny Sentiments! This might be one of my new favorite stamp sets as well. Again, one that I overlooked at first. I love how large the sentiments are. Sometimes having a big, bold statement on a card really works. Don't miss this great sale on Designer Series Paper. So many pretty prints! Throughout the month I'll be sharing ways to use your paper to make lots of cards including a free Zoom class on Monday, July 12th. Be sure to join my VIP group here to get all the details.
